Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare to facilitate access to transport.
  • Consult with the person or group to determine objectives in relation to improved access to transport.
  • Work with the person or group to confirm any physical and psychosocial risks and barriers to accessing public transport options.
  • Determine most suitable modes of transport in consultation with the person or group and taking into account local arrangements.
  • Consult and liaise with transport operators to confirm accuracy of information.
       
Element: Provide information sessions.
  • Select learning methods that meet the needs of the person or group.
  • Provide opportunities for the person or group to learn about regular and occasional travel options across various transport modes.
  • Involve transport providers in the provision of information.
  • Demonstrate purpose and advantages of using technology for travel and managing personal safety.
  • Work collaboratively with the person or group to navigate timetables and other information sources about available transport options.
  • Provide information and advice about the use of applications and other search functions to build confidence in their use.

  • Assist participants to develop coping strategies to deal with unexpected events.
  • Provide opportunities for participants to practise travel accompanied by the transport facilitator, a carer or confident traveller known to the participant.
  • Work with participants to review their travel experiences and focus on building confidence.

Assessment Tasks

Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
